Nauticat 33 Mk 1 first launched in 1978 (Hull Identification Number 474). Last Marine Survey was carried out on 17th November 2021.
Currently lying ashore at Ardoran Marine, near Oban, and being prepared for the 2025 season. Built in Finland by Siltala with the design being based on the traditional Nordic fishing boat.
The spacious wheelhouse provides excellent vision all around. Access is via port and starboard sliding doors. The wheelhouse roof also has a large glazed opening section that slides back to open when desired. With a large window area, the wheelhouse is particularly bright and creates an ideal space for sailing the West Coast of Scotland.
There is a double cabin aft, with two single bunks, storage drawers and a hanging wardrobe. Forward, there is another double cabin with “V” berths, which also has the insert and cushion to create a roomy double bed. The heads are just aft of the fore cabin. There is a sink with attachment for a shower, and a full size Jabsco toilet.
The main saloon has dining table with seats either side, which can be made into another double berth if required. There is storage behind the table and also under the saloon seating. Opposite is the linear galley with a ‘two-burner’ gas cooker, Isotherm 12-volt fridge, and double bowl sink. There is storage behind the galley and beneath the sinks and below the cooker. A previous owner has fitted a 100-litre freshwater tank underneath the Saloon floor. A 50 litre Plastimo water tank has been purchased to extend capacity but is not yet fitted.
Freshwater is provided via a pressurised system (accumulator) and hot water is supplied via the engine (or a 240-volt immersion heater as required).
There is a diesel fired warm air heating system.
Propulsion is via a robust Ford Lehman 80HP (4.1 Litre) diesel engine that is capable of 8 knots through a 40cm shaft to a 3 bladed prop (cruising comfortably at circa 6 knots). There are two 300 litre diesel tanks installed on either side of the engine. The fuel tanks can be run in tandem, or independently. The diesel fuel system can be switched off / isolated from outside the engine room.
The sails include Genoa, Mainsail and Mizzen – all dated 2014.
Instrumentation includes VHF, Radar, Robertson autopilot system connected directly to the hydraulic steering system, GPS unit serving navigation laptop and large TV style screen, Garmin GPS unit, speed, depth and wind speed/direction, Fish Finder. In addition to the mainmast navigation lights there are port and starboard LED navigation lights fitted to the wheelhouse roof. Also fitted to the wheelhouse roof is a floodlight (direction controlled within wheelhouse), and an electric horn.
Steering is via a hydraulic system connected to the helm. There is emergency tiller access on the aft deck.
There is 60 metres of anchor chain attached to a 15kg Bruce Anchor. There is an electric Lofrans windlass (with its own 12-volt battery) with deployment and recovery controlled from the wheelhouse, or by using the remote-control system.
