The hull is constructed of 4mm corten (semi-high tensile) steel and the deck of 3mm. The frames are 60x40x5 angle, unusually closely spaced at approx. 450mm spacing. The stringers are 40x10mm flat bar on edge. The stem, stern and double chine bars are 25mm diameter. There are three steel plate bulkheads. The cast iron keel is attached by 13 ss bolts to a stub keel box. Altogether, the hull is exceptionally strong, with minimal corrosion. There has been minimal filler used to fair the plating. The springiness of corten tends to make for a fair hull. A specialist steel boat surveyor was very enthusiastic about the quality of the welding in the build. Above the waterline, rockwool has been used for insulation behind the white oak lining.

The 30 hp Farymann engine (c 1976) is a raw water cooled twin V with flywheel, capable of hand start. These German-built engines were originally designed for fishing boats to be simple, robust and reliable - and so it has proved to be. When re-built, c.1996, the compression was found to be to the original spec. The gear box is connected to the drive shaft by a universal joint and thrust box (the triple seals newly replaced), so there are no problems with alignment
Mast and standing rigging over-sized for boat. Fully battened main (good condition) with lazy-jack reefing and cover on alloy boom . Roller reefing Bermuda. Self-tacking staysail on wooden boom. (Alternatively, two yankees, staysail and running backstays). All winches are Barbarosa (Italian) except one Barton.
Fire blanket and multiple fire extinguishers including one fixed in engine bay. Two life buoys, Lifesling throwing line. 4 person Seago life raft (needs service). Flares.
