Sailing Yacht Malina - Dufour 27
Although needing some TLC, Malina is ready to sail (we sail every week currently).
The good bits:
Hull and keel in excellent condition, no osmosis or blisters. Hull stripped back and re anti fouled (2 coats of Cruiser 250) in May 2023.
Deep, comfortable cockpit. Easy to sail with all lines to cockpit. 2 x recently refurbished 2 speed Lewmar 40 winches (pair worth £300 alone) for Genoa handling. Tiller steering. Removable cockpit table.
Main Sail with 2 reefing points and Furling Genoa. UV strip on Genoa replaced 2020. Main Sheet, Genoa Sheets and Genoa furling line all replaced 2023. Spinnaker pole and other sails inc. spinnaker included, condition unknown.
Volvo Penta MD6a 10HP inboard Diesel Engine. Starts 1st time, every time. Easy access from starboard cockpit locker and main cabin. 3 blade shaft driven prop, anode replaced 2023. Spare anode included. 2 heavy duty 12v Batteries in good condition charged by alternator.
CRQ Anchor with 20m Chain + 25m rode / rope all stored in bow locker. Good working condition.
Loads of storage under 3 cockpit lockers to port, starboard and aft. 20l stainless steel diesel tank under hatch in port locker.
Garmin GPS Map 750 Chart Plotter, Garmin VHF, Depth sounder, Log paddle wheel. All connected via NEMA 2000 network.
Comfortable main cabin, clean and tidy. Seating / Bunks to port and starboard with storage under, port side converts easily to double. Stove with double gas burners and grill fed from 2 Calor Gas bottles stored in vented compartment in aft cockpit locker. Double sink with powered fresh water, fed from bladder type tank (size unknown) under forward V berth. Ice Pack type fridge. Heads compartment forward to port with fully working Jabsco sea toilet and sink with foot pumped sea water. V berth with 2 single bunks or double with infill, storage below. All seating / bunk cushions in good condition. LED Lighting throughout main cabin and V berth.
Fold down table to starboard in main cabin.
The not so good bits:
Aluminium Toe rails removed in search of leaks, not yet refitted but are available. The deck is soft in places, most likely because of water ingress. As a result, the bilge does fill slowly with fresh water, but easily pumped with electric bilge pump.
The pipes / hoses that allow the anchor locker to drain are in poor condition (rubber is brittle and cracked), probably leading to at least some of the water to bilge.
Paint on top sides and deck is grubby.
Main sail although in reasonably good condition with no rips and good stitching, is a bit stretched so could use some attention. Main Sail bag in working condition but visibly a bit shabby. There are small blocks fitted to the mast and boom for a lazy jack system, but I’ve never had the system fitted.
There is a Garmin wind instrument fitted, but paddle wheels are currently not turning. It’s linked to the NEMA 2000, but not sure if even the direction part is working electronically. We just use the direction vane by sight.
NAV lights to port, starboard, aft and mast head. Not tested.
Spray hood available but not fitted. Canvas not in great condition.
Gas system working but not really used for a couple of years so advise getting checked over for safety. Bottles currently stored off boat.
The boat has been in the water since May 2023 so bottom could use a scrub to remove some light growth. Does not affect sailing performance unless light winds.
General info.
We bought the boat in 2017 with the intention of learning to sail, and possibly fixing up. We’ve done the first bit, just not the second! We now plan on getting something newer, with less maintenance required. Is this a project boat? Maybe. But is it currently sailable? For sure!
Sails well in all conditions.
Currently afloat in Troon Marina, available to view any time, but will be coming out the water end of October if not sold by then. At which point it will be available to view on the hard but wont be re launched until April 2025 (unless launch negotiated as part of sale). I’m happy to accompany anyone on sea trial if serious, but as above, only possible until about mid October (weather and times permitting).
Fenders of various type and age, boat hook, various warps and lines, all included. Inflatable dingy negotiable.
Full survey from 2017 available if interested.
Boat is advertised on other sites and therefore could be withdrawn at short notice.
