Contention 33 – Pegasus – built 1979 - Cruiser/racer designed around the 3/4 Ton series by Doug Peterson. Currently setup and used a family cruiser, but she has all the gear to return to racing if required. Owned for the last four years and lying in Mylor Yacht Harbour on a swing mooring during the season and cradle stored on the hard during the winter. Unfortunately growing family and other hobbies have curtailed sailing time.
1.82m draught with fin keel, in good cosmetic condition internally with all new cushions in 2020, and a replacement Beta Marine engine with less than 150 hrs running time maintained by Mylor Yacht Harbour.
The accommodation is laid out with 6 berths within the forward cabin and main saloon, and a cot berth in the starboard aft quarter - currently used for storage. Fiberglass headliner throughout. Forward cabin has 2 single berths in the forward cabin in the form of a 'V', with an infill cushion to provide a double with a memory foam fitted mattress on top. The saloon contains four single berths, two straight settee berths and two pilot berths, all having a lee-cloth arrangement. Biscuit coloured fabric cushions throughout, with many storage areas hidden in behind the side cushions. Dining table can fit onto the support pole in the centre of the saloon to provide interior dining space.
Heads compartment: Sea toilet to port, with vanity unit above, open hanging locker to starboard with rail and useful storage below. Overhead opening deck hatch.
Galley: 2-burner gas cooker with oven & grill. A stainless steel sink with foot-pumped water fed from an internal tank under the port saloon settee berth. Plenty of storage. There are, pots & pans, cutlery and cooking utensils to go with the boat. Double 240v socket extended with a 4-gang extension.
Nav area: Forward-facing chart table with internal storage, navigators seat with 2x batteries under. 12V socket, Bluetooth stereo, Garmin 128 GPS, Autohelm multi-instrument and icon VHF radio.
Starboard cot berth; currently used for sail storage
Sails, Spars, Cockpit: Double-spreader, keel-stepped mast and slab reefing boom - original. Carbon spinnaker pole, with vertical stowage on mast or on deck. Selden Furlex furling system to the forestay. Hydraulic backstay tensioner. Lewmar mainsheet track. All mast control lines led aft to cockpit via turning blocks and Spinlock rope clutches. Winches: 2 x Lewmar 44 and 4 x Lewmar 25 two speed winches. North sails mainsail. Furling Kemp Sails genoa. Countless other jibs and spinnakers in storage. Autohelm instruments throughout, with autohelm also setup on the tiller.
Engine: A Beta Marine 25hp diesel engine fitted in 2019, that drives a 2-bladed folding propeller through a conventional stainless-steel shaft. Under 150 hours logged from new. The batteries are charged by the engine-driven alternator or shore-supply.
